Welcome to the KartSport Mt Wellington website dedicated to recording its first 50 years of history. Affectionately known as "Mt Welly", this friendly, family Club, focused on the sport of Karting was established in Panmure on the 4th June 1960.

2010 sees the Club recognise and celebrate 50 years of history.

Like many other sporting Clubs, it is only when milestones such as this are reached that the history and achievements of the early pioneers are treasured and efforts are made to record for current and future generations of members where we have come from and what made up the journey.

We are fortunate that some early members had the foresight to retain and record newspaper clippings, photos and other memorabilia, which gives us an insight into those early days. However, like many other clubs, it is run and succeeds only thru the passionate efforts of countless volunteers. Many are so focused on the current day that formally retaining records for future members to view is not considered. BUT we know that tucked away in garages, in attics and in cupboards, there will be every conceivable piece of history that if brought back to the light of day will help make this website a tribute to the efforts of those fine people and a pleasure to be shared by all to visit here.

What is initially recorded has been achieved thru the generosity of many but in particular, we thank Bernie O'Rourke, John Cannan and Les Thompson for their photo albums, newsletters, and news paper clippings which they unselfishly dedicated to the Club to assist us start this exciting journey of learning and understanding about the pleasures, the heartaches, the achievements, the developments and the personalities that make "Mt Welly" such a special Club.

If you are a past member and have any memories (or perhaps some photos or stories) of your time in the Club, or just want to be recorded on our database of past members, please just follow the links so we can expand and develop this site.

We hope that over the next 12 months this website can be developed to become a special place to visit not only for today's generation and beyond, but also as a trip down memory lane for our early pioneers. Enjoy...
